Bigg Boss 14: Salman Khan schools Rahul Vaidya for his comment on nepotism regarding Jaan Kumar Sanu
Last week, Rahul Vaidya made some serious comments before nominating Jaan Kumar Sanu on nepotism. With the topic being a little too touchy and knowing full well that Jaan Kumar Sanu’s father Kumar Sanu has never helped him professionally, Rahul refused to take his comments back. While that irked a spark on social media regarding the topic, the viewers did not find Rahul’s behaviour acceptable.
In the upcoming episode of Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman Khan will be seen schooling Rahul Vaidya for making comments on nepotism. He asked Rahul, “If my father helps me with something, is that nepotism?”, moving on to Jaan Kumar Sanu, Salman Khan asked, “How many projects has your dad helped you with?” To which he replies, “None. Dad has never hooked me up with projects.” Concluding the conversation, he told Rahul Vaidya, “This is not the platform to speak about nepotism.”
He moved on to Jasmin Bhasin and asked her why she behaved the way she did when Rahul had asked her to let the bag go. Moving on to Rubina Dilaik, he asked her an explanation for making statements to Jasmin like, “No one will do anything to you even if you throw water on him (Rahul Vaidya)”. The promo ends with Rubina Dilaik saying, “Why don’t these people unite and walk me out of the main door?” Salman Khan then said, “Rubina you are making your life as well as the fellow contestants’ lives miserable like this.”
He sarcastically concluded, “Her passion is passion, but if someone else does it it’s violence.”
Take a look at the promo.

EXCLUSIVE: “Our collections are inspired by the refined sartorial history of the country” – says Saif Ali Khan as House Of Pataudi completes two years
Saif Ali Khan’s sartorial choices have captured the attention of many fashion connoisseurs. Known for his innate sense of style, he has earned the epithet of a metrosexual star. Two years back, Saif conceptualized an exclusive clothing line, House of Pataudi, with the intention to bridge the gap in the fashion market and make ethnic dressing a part of everyday wear. An amalgamation of the splendor of the past and the contemporary flair of the present, it is a clothing line that is solely dedicated to promoting Indian heritage by tapping into the understated elegance of traditional outfits.
For Saif, the House of Pataudi is an extension of his family legacy. Its collections are inspired by the refined sartorial history of the country. Subsequently, the brand forayed into designing majestic furniture pieces and stylish footwear.
House of Pataudi, which created a niche and established itself as an elegant and regal brand for ethnic wear, recently celebrated its second anniversary It has been a very satisfying journey for the Nawab and his team as they brought to life the Pataudi heritage in modern culture through tastefully designed products which are a reflection of the rich and timeless heritage of yesteryear and modern India.
Bollywood Hungama spoke to Saif Ali Khan on House Of Pataudi’s second anniversary. When asked about his vision behind it when he planned to launch his fashion label, Saif says, “We started House of Pataudi two years back with the intention to bridge the gap between western and ethnic wear in the fashion market and make ethnic dressing a part of everyday wear. But the figures online said a different story. We read up and found out that a larger percentage of people lookup online to buy traditional outfits. So, we came up with a clothing line that would solely be dedicated to promoting Indian heritage in terms of clothing. We wanted to tap into the Indian wear market and make everyone sit up and take notice of the understated elegance of ethnic ensembles. “
The actor seems to be content with the way his label has progressed so far and the love that it has received. “Well, I am more than happy with the kind of response that we have received so far. The label is an extension of the Pataudi legacy and our collections are inspired by the refined sartorial history of the country. So, that makes it even more special. I’m happy that we have been able to carve a niche in an otherwise extremely competitive market. The immense love and popularity that it has garnered in such a short span of time is a testament to it. This has been a very satisfying journey,” he adds.
Interestingly, the House Of Pataudi collection names feels like poetry. It exudes the idea of past meets modern contemporary. Saif agrees that was the intention behind it. “We wanted to bring together the splendor of the past and the contemporary flair of the present. Our country has a rich sartorial heritage. I have always believed that it is ethnic wear that brings our cultural heritage to the fore and aptly reflects who we are. It is an epitome of love, poise, grace, and poetry and it offers an array of options to everyone to zero down on their modern festive needs. No matter how westernized we become, we don’t want to compromise with our Indian designs and textiles, do we?” he says.
Both the collections are men and women truly exude royalty. When asked whether the intention was to bring a traditional essence to the collections, the actor reveals, “Yes. Like I told you, we wanted to highlight our rich clothing heritage. We wanted to make ethnic dressing a part of everyday wear and not just something that we put on during a festival or some family event. I have always believed that traditional pieces are effortlessly stylish and can never go out of vogue. You can see that we have experimented with vibrant colours and contemporary silhouettes. The best thing about ethnic ensembles is that you can experiment with the fabric and so we have pieces in royal satin, silk, chanderi, and brocade, among others.”
Just like the festive season began, House Of Pataudi launched the Durga Pujo collection to kick of the festivities in full swing. Since a collection is conceptualized way before time, we asked how time is invested when it comes to curating a collection. Thanking Bollywood Hungama for appreciating the new collection, Saif said, “This collection is rather special to us. My mum, being a Bengali, really misses the festival. We have grown up hearing these lovely anecdotes from her about how she used to spend Durga Puja as a child. I am elated to have presented a collection that is signature of House of Pataudi and upholds the traditions of our country.”
“Generally, the whole conceptualizing process takes about a couple of months or so. But it took us more time than that this time around because of the pandemic. Most of the meetings happened via zoom calls. Though we had a clear vision as to what we wanted to achieve. But things got slightly tough because we had a smaller team this time. It, however, made for a unique experience and I think I have emerged a better and more patient decision-maker (laughs),” the actor further reveals.
Going forward, what exactly is the vision with House Of Pataudi? To which, Saif Ali Khan responds, “The ambition with this brand is to make a complete lifestyle label and we will be getting into various categories very soon. We have just launched footwear and are currently present in the furniture. So clearly we are working towards this goal and there are going to be all kinds of offerings from the brand.”

Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt release official statement denying drug allegations made by LuvIena Lodh
After filing a defamation case in the Bombay High Court, Mukesh Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt have released an official statement denying drug allegations made by Sumit Sabherwal’s estranged wife Luviena Lodh. The model-actor had claimed in an Instagram video that she was being harassed by her husband and Bhatt brothers. After appearing before the court earlier this week, she spoke to the media and said, “Mahesh Bhatt is the biggest don of the industry. If you don't play by his rules, he destroys your career and life." Furthermore, she stated if anything happens to her or her family, Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt, Sumit Sabherwal, Sahil Sehgal, and Kumkum Sehgal should be considered responsible for it.”
She added, “Everyone knows that every person who works for Vishesh Films (Bhatts' Production house) consumes drugs, but no one talks about the Bhatt family." She had also alleged that her estranged husband was Bhatts’ nephew and would supply drugs to celebrities including Amyra Dastur and Sapna Pabbi.
After her interaction with the media, Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt released a joint statement denying all these allegations.
Here’s the full statement, according to Zee News:
“As a public figure, we have accepted that one’s private life can be the subject matter of curiosity, interest, scrutiny and gossip, often, intense, irresponsible or even unfair. we have regarded this as an occupational hazard and a part and parcel of life and therefore exercised great restraint in engaging with or responding to, the same.
We have however recently been at the receiving end of a vicious and malicious campaign launched by Ms. Luviena Lodh who falsely claims, her husband to be our nephew.
Ms. Lodh has, since 2016, been engaged in a matrimonial dispute with her husband Mr. Sumit Sabherwal who works for our company Vishesh Films. She has also been served recently with proceedings for evicting her from a residential flat which she is occupying. She has, therefore, as a litigation strategy, decided to personally target us and members of our family, by levelling scurrilous and grossly defamatory allegations, against us, in the hope that this will result in the eviction proceedings not being pursued.
Towards this end, Ms. Luviena Lodh published and circulated, on her Instagram account, a video making grossly defamatory, false, scurrilous and distasteful allegations against us. Since this was not idle gossip but a malicious attack, we both were constrained to file a defamation suit before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court. By its Order dated 26th October, 2020, the court restrained Ms. Lodh from making defamatory statements against us whether by way of circulating the said video or otherwise in any manner whatsoever.
In complete disregard thereto, Ms. Lodh has continued to peddle lies and falsehood to besmirch our reputation and malign our character. In her desperation to escape the eviction proceedings she held a press conference, where she reiterated her falsehood and even misrepresented the court order. The proceedings of the Press Conference has only served to expose what her real agenda is – use attacks on us and our family as a quid pro quo to escape eviction proceedings.
As we have already sought and secured legal protection and as the matter is sub-judice, we are taking legal advice on the further course of action to adopt.
In the meanwhile, we are making this statement to place on record that all allegations made by Ms. Lodh against us are false, incorrect and baseless. We are confident about our case and have complete faith that our stand will be judicially vindicated. We are confident that truth will prevail and unlike her, we do not need to take recourse to publicity stunts or malicious mud-slinging.”
In an official statement released by his lawyers, Sumit Sabherwal has said that he is not related to the Bhatt brothers. “The claims and contents of the video being circulated by our client’s estranged wife Mrs. Luveena Lodh are denied in toto,” the statement read.
“Our client expresses his deepest regret that the good name of Mr. Mahesh Bhatt & Mr. Mukesh Bhatt (herein after referred to as the Bhatt Brother’s) is being sullied solely due to his pending (since 2016) matrimonial dispute with his wife. It is made amply clear that our client is merely and employee of M/s Vishesh Films Pvt Ltd. and NOT related to either of the Bhatt Brother’s as has falsely and maliciously been sought to be made out by the video’s in question. Every attempt being made in order to formulate a relation between our client and the Bhatt brothers must be construed as a well-crafted conspiracy to precipitate and motivate a lucrative “settlement” for her disputes with our client; as is amply made clear in her interviews as well,” the statement read.
In her video, Lodh had claimed that Mahesh Bhatt was aware that her estranged husband supplied drugs and women to various actors. “If you don’t play by his rules, he will make life difficult for you. Mahesh Bhatt has ruined a lot of lives by putting them out of work. He makes one phone call and people lose their job. Ever since I filed a case against him, he has been trying to enter my house and remove me from this house. No one files my NC (non-cognizable complaint) either and even after great difficulty I manage to file an NC, no action is taken,” she said in the video.
It is to be noted that the Bhatts have sought one crore in damages and a restraining order from making any such false claims in the future in their defamation case filing against the actress.

“I used to get bothered by all the media reports” – says Pulkit Samrat
Actor Pulkit Samrat speaks about his rousing performance in Taish and his future plans including marriage with Kriti Kharbanda.
Taish sees you playing the happy-go-lucky Sunny whose life takes a sudden turn. Tell me about your preparation. How closely did you connect with the part?
I’ve been looking for an opportunity to play this kind of a character. Something that challenges me. Director Bejoy Nambiar’s belief in me gave me my first push towards the prep. Inhibitions and nervousness took backseat while Bejoy and I started with our jugalabandi to carve out the character.
What kind of jugalbandi?
We discussed my character’s back story, his favourites, his embarrassing moments, his achievements and failures. This gave us a good insight into Sunny. As a team, we all brainstormed and our hairstylist Aalim came up with the idea to do platinum hair! We all loved it at once. The tattoos were selected and designed as a life map of Sunny; they describe him at one glance! It was a very enriching and learning experience.
How was your rapport with the rest of the cast? And what was your takeaway from Bejoy Nambiar?
I feel I am the weakest in this ensemble. I had to learn a lot, give in a lot and work a lot to match up to this fab cast! What really worked in my favour was the fact that all my co-stars were secure in their own space and that made us all improvise a lot. Bejoy was my major source of inspiration. His energy inspires you to push your limits. It’s addictive to work with Bejoy.
Kriti Kharbanda plays Jim Sarbh's girlfriend. Didn't that feel weird? Considering you are dating the lovely lady in real life?
And I was flirting a lot of girls in the film (laughs) .On a serious note, we keep our professional and personal lives separate. We first met as colleagues and we maintain that respect for each other when working. She’s played the character of Arfa in Taish with so much ease and is one of the strong pillars of the film. That’s what I really care about!
I have watched your growth as an actor since 2012 when you did Bittoo Boss. I find you grossly underused. How do you see your career?
Thank you so much. I find my journey to be really blessed! There have been ups, there have been downs and one constant thing has been that I’ve been lucky to work with wonderful people. If am under-used today, I have myself to blame for it cause I take time to connect with people about choose my films. Am working on it.
As an outsider in the tightly clannish film industry, have you had to struggle hard to find a place and after 8 years, are you still struggling?
To be really frank, I got my first break on television from Ekta Kapoor. Then it was Kumar Mangatji who gave me a break in Bittoo Boss and then Fukrey happened with Excel Entertainment. I feel I’ve been welcomed with open arms in the industry and am grateful for the same.
What are the mistakes that you could have avoided?
I think I could avoid getting affected by rumours and not-so-true media reports that happen to pop up every once in a while. I’ve learnt from my shortcomings and yearn to do better every time.
Your personal life has often been talked about more than your work does that bother you? And what are you doing to correct the imbalance?
I used to get bothered by all the media reports but I’ve calmed down a lot with time and the only thing I focus all my energies on is my work. That really helps!
Tell me about your future plans , your forthcoming films ?
There’s Haathi Mere Saathi that’s finally gonna be a theatrical release on Makar Sankranti in Jan 2021! Super-excited for that one. It has been a fabulous experience to be a part of a trilingual! We’re gonna begin filming Fukrey 3 very very soon and the entire team is going gaga with the thought! I hope I keep getting a chance to entertain people all my life.
Is marriage to Ms. Kharbanda a part of the plan?
Haha! Not really. Right now both of us are focusing on work and only work!

Jayalalithaa's public rally scenes will be shot through CG in Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi
We all know former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was an exceptional orator. Her public-address rallies were political phenomena that defied all analysis. It, therefore, comes as no surprise to know that the makers of Thalaivi, the multi-lingual Jayalalithaa bio-pic starring Kangana Ranaut were planning to shoot a number of massy meetings with hundreds of junior artistes.
But now, with COVID-19 showing no sign of abatement, Jayalalithaa’s public rally scenes are likely to be simulated on screen through computer graphics.
“Makes sense, don’t you think?” a source close to the project wonders. “It’s going to be months if nor years before any filmmaker can shoot large crowds and mobs. We might as well get used to making do with CGs.”
Says Thailavi producer Shaailesh Singh, "Most of the public speeches of Jayalalithaaji we had already shot, only few such scenes are left, what we will shoot now, it will be according to COVID-19 guidelines and in those shots definitely if required we will use CG."

“Can’t wait to get started on the Looop Lapeta!”, says Tahir Raj Bhasin
Tahir Raj Bhasin is ready to start shooting for his next, Looop Lapeta, in which he is paired opposite Taapsee Pannu and the young actor is thrilled to be back on a film set. “I can’t wait to get started on the Looop Lapeta. It’s an incredible script and I’ve lived with the story as drafts have improved through the lockdown. I can see it being challenging and super fun to do. It is also very different from anything that I’ve explored before which only doubles the excitement!” says Tahir, who will also be seen playing the role of Sunil Gavaskar in the Ranveer Singh starrer ‘83.
Tahir adds, “The producers - Atul Kasbekar and Tanuj Garg of Ellipsis and the Studio, Sony, are very aware of the new work environment we are venturing into. They are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the film set is a safe workspace that protects every crew member and the project.”
Taapsee and Tahir are exciting new on-screen pairing and Tahir are confident that the audience will love their chemistry. He says, “A lead pair in acting is a bit like a dance duet. The performance works if both dancers do. To have Taapsee is going to be brilliant and I hope the audience sees this chemistry. She has incredibly charming energy and she’s an outstanding, instinctive actor. I look forward to exploring the world of Looop Lapeta with her.”
Tahir is excited about the industry restarting itself after over six months of total shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. “The lockdown was a time to pause and reassess for everyone. Projects have had time for rewrites and improvements. People appreciate being at work and around friends more. It has changed our attitudes toward health and safety. To be back in the ring and a part of one of the first few projects to kick start its engines is a great feeling. It is simultaneously invigorating and a responsibility to set a sustainable work template,” he adds.

“Mere Desh ki Dharti is a very special movie; I would say it is one of those films that you want to see on the big screen” – Vaishali Sarwankar
Carnival Motion Pictures (CMP) is gearing up for the release of Mere Desh Ki Dharti. Starring Divyenndu Sharma, Anant Vidhaat, Rakesh Krushna Joshi and Anupriya Goenka in lead roles, the film is a humorous yet inspirational take on the lives and journey of young engineers Ajay and his friend Sameer from being abject urban failures to icons of rural India. Before the film releases, and looking at the current scenario created due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Bollywood Hungama caught up with Vaishali Sarwankar, CEO & Director, Carnival Motion Pictures to understand what the film is about and also what the future holds for the film industry.
You come to Carnival Motion Pictures (CMP) with a well-read background, what are the challenges you face on your road ahead at CMP?
This year has taught us lots of important things and being adaptive is one of those, which was delayed for the unforeseen circumstances but when it comes to challenges; I would choose to talk about the challenge that we've given ourselves. I'm sure every job and every opportunity comes with its own set of ups and downs. It's the difficult things that make it interesting, and we will, of course, get through it as a team but right now we are more focused on our goals. The idea is to make more audience centric movies which speak about issues relevant to the them. Things that actually happen in real life, the stories of an average Indian man and woman. We want to focus more on getting their stories to the big screens. Something from the heart, something more honest. That's our vision or you can call it a goal we have set for ourselves. That’s one challenge that I'm really looking forward to.
Given the current scenario (Covid-19 Pandemic lockdown), the film industry is facing tough time in terms of production and exhibition, what do you think the future holds?
Things will surely get back to normal sooner rather than later, I am optimistic about that. Yes, there are quite a few hindrances on the way, in terms of production, exhibition, shooting, amongst other things. But I believe that we would prevail no matter what. People around the world have come together and are finding ways to get out of our current situation, things are going to bounce back. There are going to be some changes in the way we did things. The future has always been a mystery. We do like planning things so we've already started planning for 2021. I like having a positive outlook on things and I think the future is going to be brighter for all of us as we are more prepared for the worst. There will be many opportunities that will open up post everything gets back to normal.
With OTT platforms acquiring new releases to premiere each passing week, will we see a decline in theatrical releases, and how will that affect overall industry revenue?
Honestly, the silver screen is magical, glamorous and eventful. Movies don't just play, they come alive on the theatre screen. While OTT has been a great source of entertainment, being stuck inside & all, they have engaged and entertained us all. However, I don't think that will impact people’s love for theatres. Movie dates, anniversary, birthdays or just a catching up with friends, theatres have been a part of so many occasions, it is a feeling for celebration.
Coming to Mere Desh Ki Dharti., what about the film resonated with CMP, and what according to you are the film’s highlights and prospects?
MDKD is a very special movie for us. I would say it is one of those movies that I always wanted to see on the big screen. We do not have many movies that cover the particular subject that we have highlighted in our movie Mere Desh Ki Dharti. If I had to share the highlights of this film, it would be ''how different issues interconnect'.' One thing leads to another, and how you can make things work in your favour.
Looking at the ever changing market and trends, what is your analysis and understanding of the future of film production?
"Content is a king", everyone knows that. So long as you make good movies, the future should be fine. A good story and apt cast, means good future for film production.
