Alia Bhatt on becoming a mother, “Number one priority is my daughter”

Last year turned out to be tremendous for Alia Bhatt, not just professionally but also at a personal level. After giving quality performances in a number of films, she also got married to fellow actor Ranbir Kapoor and gave birth to their daughter Raha later in the year. During the launch of this year’s Zee Cine Awards, Alia opened up about her priorities in life, now that she is a mother. When asked about her life currently, the actress said, “I am a take-each-day kind of a person. I will take it one day at a time and will definitely give it my best. But definitely, priorities have changed. My number one priority in my life is my daughter, who I love deeply. My next love, or next to next or actually my first love is movies and cinema and working. I will try my best and maybe it will be quality over quantity, jo buri baat nahin hai (which is not a bad thing).” Last year, Alia struck gold with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva and her cameo in SS Rajamouli’s global hit RRR. The actress revealed in the same conversation that during this year’s Zee Cine Awards, she would be performing on songs from these three films – ‘Dholida,’ ‘Kesariya’ and ‘Nacho Nacho’ respectively. “It’s been one of my most special years and these songs are the biggest hits of my career. I cannot reveal much but it will be an act that I have not done before,” added Alia. Along with acting in the aforementioned films, Alia also debuted as a producer with the Netflix movie Darlings las year. She co-produced the film along with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. The film and Alia’s performance received appreciation. Pathaan: Siddharth Anand says Shah Rukh Khan has been ‘soft target’ in recent years; breaks silence on boycott calls: ‘Audiences came out in large numbers and supported it’

Riding high on the success of Pathaan, filmmaker Siddharth Anand has now given two back-to-back blockbusters. After War and Pathaan, he has become the undisputed number-one director of his genre in India. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone & John Abraham, the film has already collected Rs. 591 crores gross worldwide! But, the film did face its fair share of controversies especially when boycott calls were made after ‘Besharam Rang’ was released. Speaking to Deadline, when asked if he was worried about the negativity around Pathaan ahead of its release, he said, “All I know is they tried to boycott Pathaan and audiences came out in large numbers and supported it. I think if you’re going to boycott something or raise your voice against it, there has to be some merit in that. It has to be substantiated with some facts and some reality. What they were trying to do with Pathaan was just ridiculous and the audience has given its verdict. There’s also been a huge amount of support for Shah Rukh who has been a soft target in recent years. That’s why the film has done such big numbers. There’s been such an outpouring of love – they came in wanting to like the film and not to judge it.” Talking about the recent surge of South movies doing really well in the North market and how Pathaan has broken several records, he added, “We’ve captured all four quadrants, families are going in large numbers, men, women, youth audience, across both multiplexes and single screens. It’s also firing in all territories. Earlier it was a little slow in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh because people were afraid of protests. That was on the first day. But by evening, the numbers started increasing. The South is also coming in with big numbers, not just the Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions, but they’re also coming for the original Hindi version because they want to hear Shah Rukh speaking in his original voice.” On the work front, Siddharth Anand is next directing Fighter headlined by Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. First Look: Samantha Ruth Prabhu joins Varun Dhawan starrer Citadel India, says she is 'thrilled to be a part of this brilliant universe'

Prime Video on Wednesday confirmed that Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be starring alongside Varun Dhawan in the Indian installment of the Citadel universe, the global-event series from Prime Video and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO. The untitled Citadel series based out of India is being helmed by renowned creator duo Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK), who are the showrunners and directors. The local installment is written by Sita R. Menon, along with Raj & DK. The streaming service also confirmed that the production is currently underway in Mumbai. After this, the unit will head to North India and then onwards to international locales like Serbia and South Africa. As previously announced, Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas will star in the first-to-launch series within the Citadel universe, which comes from the Russo Brothers’ AGBO along with David Weil and is set to premiere in 2023. Alongside Madden and Chopra Jonas, the first-to-launch Citadel series will also feature Stanley Tucci. Netflix to celebrate Yash Chopra’s legacy through the docu-series The Romantics

Streaming giant Netflix is all set to celebrate the late legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra and his banner Yash Raj Films through the docu-series titled The Romantics. Lollapalooza India: Hrithik Roshan, Sussanne Khan and their kids cheer for Saba Azad as she performs with Imaad Shah

With the inaugural, first-ever edition in Asia, Lollapalooza brought its multi-genre music experience to Indian shores, with a world-class experience at the Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai, on Saturday – Sunday, January 28-29. Excited fans and vivacious energy set the stage, while the cooler temperatures made way for warm memories for everyone present.  Wooing the audience on the first day were some of the most sought-after global and homegrown artists such as Madboy/Mink which features Saba Azad and Imaad Shah. After much speculation surrounding the role on whom the film’s title is based, Anurag Kashyap reveals Vicky Kaushal as DJ Mohabbat in his directorial Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat, co-starring Alaya F and Karan Mehta. This also marks the fourth collaboration between Anurag Kashyap and the actor, who plays a special role and will feature in a never-seen-before avatar in the coming-of-age romantic film. Talking about the special role of Vicky Kaushal in the film, Anurag Kashyap said, “The character of DJ Mohabbat is so integral to the story, that I wanted someone special to play it. Sajid Khan predicts Pathaan will break into the Rs. 500 crores club; says, “It will be the first Hindi film that will cross 500 crores”

Pathaan, 2023's first mega blockbuster, is on a box office rampage. The film is praised for its tight script, music, scale, action, patriotism, and, of course, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham's performances. Anurag Kashyap expresses regret for turning down Sushant Singh Rajput's invitation to collaborate

Anurag Kashyap recently made headlines where he expressed guilt over his public statement about his Dev.D actor Abhay Deol and privately about the late Sushant Singh Rajput. In an interview, Anurag accused Abhay of being difficult to work with, claiming that the actor insisted on staying in a five-star hotel separate from the rest of the cast and crew. Abhay had denied this.  Anurag had revealed shortly after Sushant's death that he had refused to speak with him about a project because he was resentful of being ghosted by the actor in the past. The filmmaker discussed his differences with Abhay and Sushant in a new interview with Showsha. He said, “It’s taken me a year-and-a-half of sickness to realise a lot of things. I was so reactive; I would say things. I would say things out of anger, out of reaction, to things I felt perturbed by. It took me time to realise that I’m shouting, I’m shouting in a room full of people shouting. Nobody’s listening to each other, not just to me. That’s what social media has become. And I stepped back. I said, ‘Why am I reacting to this? What is bothering me?'”  He further added, “A lot has changed, but I know I have no filter. But it’s also made me realise I don’t need to say everything… For example, that whole spat between me and Abhay. Somebody was doing an article about why a very good actor like Abhay is no longer in the movies, and I spoke about my experiences, something that happened 13 years ago. I didn’t need to say it publicly. And the day the unfortunate incident happened of SSR, I felt so bad. Three weeks prior to that somebody was trying to reach out because he wanted to talk, and I was like, ‘No, he ghosted me, I don’t want to talk’. You get pangs of guilt. So, I tried to reach out to Abhay and I apologised to him, because somebody had told me that he was upset about me speaking publicly about him.”  Anurag stated that he told Abhay that it was fine to yell at him and then apologised repeatedly for what he said. However, Abhay appeared to be upset about what Anurag had said about him as recently as last month. Abhay called the filmmaker a "liar" and a "toxic" person in an interview with mid-day. Anurag acknowledged that they had both changed and expressed regret for what he had said.  Anurag had stated in a 2020 interview with NDTV that he was disappointed that Sushant had backed out of projects with him in favour of more high-profile jobs. He stated, “YRF called him and said, ‘We’ll give you a deal. You do Shuddh Desi Romance.’ Sushant, who used to sit in my office with Mukesh and all of us used to sit together, signed up with YRF and dropped Hasee Toh Phasee, a film of an outsider because usko validation YRF ka chahiye tha (he wanted validation from YRF). It’s with every actor, so I am not holding any grudges… Years later, in 2016, before the release of MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Mukesh went to Sushant and said, ‘Anurag has written a script looking for an actor who can play someone based out of Uttar Pradesh.’ Dhoni released, became a success and he never called me back. Neha Dhupia recollects her 20 years old statement: “Either sex sells or Shah Rukh Khan”

Actor Neha Dhupia attracted headlines in 2004 when she asserted that "either sex sells or Shah Rukh Khan." She had mentioned that since Shah Rukh was not there in Julie (2004), the movie needed to contain love-making scenes and shots in response to a question about her doing intimate scenes. In the movie, which also starred Priyanshu Chatterjee and Sanjay Kapoor, Neha played a sex worker. After viewing Pathaan on Republic Day 2023, Neha re-examined her earlier statement on Shah Rukh and recently praised him on Twitter.  The actor responded to a Twitter follower on Saturday who commented on the success of Pathaan at the box office. Jacqueline Fernandez receives permission to travel to Dubai from Delhi High Court

Jacqueline Fernandez, who is currently being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate owing to her alleged involvement in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Rs. 200 crore extortion case, has been granted the permission to travel abroad for professional commitments, albeit with certain conditions. The actress had earlier approached the Delhi Patiala High Court seeking the permit for travelling abroad to attend her scheduled performance for PepsiCo India conference where she was to perform at the Annual Bottlers Conference in Dubai. On Friday, the Delhi Patiala High Court granted permission to Jacqueline Fernandez to travel to Dubai after her counsel argued that the actress may face lawsuit from the brand for non-participation if she doesn’t make it to the conference. Considering the same, the court has granted her permission to travel but along with that it has also observed that it will come along with some conditions. Owing to the fact that the ED is still investigating the Sukesh Chandrashekhar case, for which, she has been named as a witnessed, the court has laid certain guidelines for the actress including a FDR of Rs. 1 crore, in case she doesn’t return. As per the court order, the actress is also expected to give a full disclosure of her stay details in Dubai including itinerary, arrival, and departure. In the past too, Jacqueline Fernandez had filed a plea seeking permission to travel but had withdrawn the same. While the counsel argued that the actress decided to cooperate in the investigation and decided against traveling for personal reasons, the current reason for her to insist on leaving for Dubai is because of the professional repercussions she may face if she doesn’t attend the event. On the other hand, the ED opposed it not only stating that the case is still under investigation but also pointing out that Jacqueline is a foreign national which increases the threat of her fleeing. After listening to both arguments, the court upheld its decision of allowing Fernandez to travel for the conference but keeping in mind the ongoing investigation of the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Rs. 200 crore extortion case, the court has asked the actress to strictly adhere to the guidelines that have been laid down. Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, and Hema Malini attends the SCO film festival as it gets underway in Mumbai

The SCO Council of Heads of States and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) had collaborated to organise the film festival. On the opening day of the festival, Bollywood celebrities Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Hema Malini, and others received awards. In Mumbai for the festival's opening, Union Minister Thakur noted that the distinctions between regional and worldwide film have become more hazy and emphasised the importance of creating high-quality content that will be recognised on a global scale. He told reporters, "Somebody asked me about regional or how come it is an international thing here, nothing is regional today if the content has the power, it will go places, from regional to national to international. Keep making good content; there are no boundaries for good content. This (Appatha) is going to make great news at the box office and will be seen across the world." India is hosting the G20 Summit in 2023, and it also holds the SCO Presidency, according to the minister, making it a significant year for the country. He asserted that India and the SCO have close ties, and for many years, residents of the SCO's member countries have praised and adored Indian movies. "In one-year (these) big events are happening in India. And we have a lot of showcases, especially our rich cultural heritage, (and) we should only be proud of it. The world of cinema is incomplete without India and India is the largest filmmaking country and of late we are making right news, right noise at the international level," he added. The festival's mission, according to the minister, is to foster young filmmaker potential, foster relationships in the film industry, and function as a bridge between the cultures of this distinctive region. It also offers exchange programmes. When Thakur inquired about Akshay Kumar's readiness to appear in foreign movies, the 55-year-old actor responded, “I believe in being aatmanirbhar (self-reliant) and will do Hindustani films." On the other hand, Shroff asserted that he is open to acting in foreign films and that he thinks that cinema transcends all languages. He said, "Films transcends boundaries, it is a visual medium and creativity has no language. I am very happy to be here and be part of this event and celebrate Indian cinema and its growth, and of course world cinema and all the countries that have participated and showed their talent." Hema Malini asserted that a major factor in an actor's increasing notoriety outside of India is participation in film festivals. "Through the festival a lot can happen. Like, (for) SCO film festival, there is participation from Russia, China, Uzbekistan and other (countries), it is a good thing and the result will be good. Long ago, I acted in an Indo-Russian collaboration film, 'Alibaba Aur 40 Chor' and because of that many people know me (in that country)," the actress said. SCO Film Festival: Hema Malini says her Indo-Russian film Alibaba Aur 40 Chor brought her fame; says, “Due to that film, several people recognise me”

Yaariyan 2 starring Divya Khosla Kumar, Meezaan Jafri and Pearl V Puri to release in theatres on October 20, 2023

Yaariyan’s second installment, Yaariyan 2 starring Divya Khosla Kumar, Meezaan Jafri and Pearl V Puri will now release on 20th October 2023. The film also features an ensemble cast including Yash Das Gupta, Anaswara Rajan, Warina Hussain and Priya Varrier. Yaariyan 2 will be directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. In the first instalment of the film, Divya made her directorial debut with the college romance, and now she will be the one playing the lead in Yaariyan 2. Gulshan Kumar and T-Series present T-Series films and Rao & Sapru Films production titled Yaariyan 2. The movie which will hit theatres on 20th October 2023 is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar and Aayush Maheshwari and is directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. 6 Years Of Raees: Mahira Khan celebrates the day by addressing Shah Rukh Khan as ‘My Pathaan’

It was a double celebration for Shah Rukh Khan fans as January 25 marked the release of Pathaan and 6 years since the release of Raees. Helmed by Rahul Dholakia, the film marked the Bollywood debut of popular Pakistani actress Mahira Khan. It also starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a pivotal role. On this special occasion, the actress took to her Instagram story to share her love for SRK. She simply shared her old post and wrote, “My Pathan” in the caption. Rahul Dholakia celebrated the occasion by watching Pathaan. Sharing his review on his Twitter handle, Rahul wrote, “6 years ago we released #Raees - today was Day One for #Pathaan. Pathaan protests in MP: Home Minister Narottam Mishra says there is no point in protesting now

Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film Pathaan is expected to earn around Rs 50 crores at the box office on its first day (yesterday). The film has succeeded in pulling large crowds into the cinema halls in such a way that it is expected to break the record of the highest opening for a Bollywood movie. But amidst such scenes, some Right Wing organizations held some protests against Pathaan in parts of Madhya Pradesh yesterday, as reported by NDTV. The film was under fire for the saffron coloured bikini worn by Deepika Padukone in the song ‘Besharam Rang’ as that colour is considered sacred by the Hindus. But the state’s Home Minister Narottam Mishra has said that there is no point in having any protests now as there have been “corrections” made in the film by the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certifications). Speaking to a group of reporters, he said, “I believe all rectifications have been made in it (film). The Censor Board has made corrections. Controversial words have been removed. So, I don’t see any point in protesting now.” He also said that those who are still protesting against the movie will be “counselled,” added the same report by NDTV. Mishra, who is a part of the BJP, was one of the first persons to raise objections in Pathaan last month for the colour of the bikini in the said song. He had said then, “The outfits worn (by Deepika Padukone) in the song are objectionable. It is evident that this song has been picturized by polluted minds. Anyways, Deepika ji has been a supporter of the ‘Tukde Tukde’ gang; she attended the JNU protests. Several reports stated that Suniel Shetty gifted his daughter Athiya a luxurious apartment worth Rs. 50 crore in Mumbai. Salman Khan, who is a close friend of Suniel Shetty, gifted an Audi car to Athiya worth Rs. 1.64 crore. Jackie Shroff, who is another close friend of Shetty, gifted his daughter an Rs. 30 lakh Chopard watch. Suniel Shetty pens a heartfelt note as a proud father after his daughter Athiya Shetty ties the knot with cricketer K L Rahul

The week kicked off with celebrations in B-town as popular star Suniel Shetty assumed a new role of father-in-law. His daughter and Hero actress Athiya Shetty tied the knot with her long-time boyfriend and renowned cricket player K. L. Rahul in an intimate ceremony in Khandala. Despite it being a private affair, the couple and the Shetty family arrived to interact with the media post the wedding ceremony. And now the proud father has taken to social media, to share a heartfelt note about his daughter’s wedding.

In a recent post shared by Suniel Shetty, he also dropped some fatherly advice for his daughter about love and marriage saying, “A hand to hold and a reason to believe because sometimes the right place is a person and the ingredients love and trust … congratulations and Godbless my bachchas”. He posted it along with a photo of Athiya Shetty and K. L. Rahul taking ‘pheras’ at their wedding.

Suniel Shetty had also expressed his happiness when he interacted with the media post the wedding in which he had said, “It was beautiful. It was very small, with just close family lekin sab bahut acche se hua (everything went well), adding, “Shaadi hogayi hai, father-in-law ban gaya hoon officially. Beta ghar aaya hai ((The wedding was completed and I am officially a father-in-law). We are welcoming a son at home). He continued talking about his role, “I am a father, and don’t want to get involved in the in-law complications. I ace the role of a parent, and I want to do that.”

Athiya Shetty and K. L. Rahul, who have been in a relationship for about three years, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the Khandala farmhouse owned by the Shetty family, on January 23.

Pathaan: Shah Rukh Khan – Salman Khan’s appearance together is met with loud cheers, whistles, screams in theatres in early morning shows, watch videos

The day has arrives as fans were thronging the theatres across the country as early as 6 in the morning to watch Shah Rukh Khan returned to the big screen in a lead role with Pathaan. The anticipation is through the roof, social media pages are buzzing and the fans are stoked to see SRK back in action. Like it was reported earlier, Salman Khan makes a cameo in the movie and it totally leads a roar when two superstars, fondly known as Karan – Arjun of Indian cinema, come together for an action-packed sequence.

A few video clips of fans have gone viral as they were cheering, clapping, whistling, screaming and dancing upon seeing their favourite stars back in action. It’s Pathaan meeting Tiger that created a huge moment of celebration amongst fans.

Interestingly, not simply his cameo, but Salman Khan's Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’s teaser is also attached to Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan in theatres all across the country. The film is slated to release on Eid 2023 and will be a Zee Studios worldwide release.

Meanwhile, Tiger arrives on screen again in Pathaan which will be followed by Tiger 3 in Diwali 2023. Shah Rukh Khan stars alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Helmed by Siddharth Anand of War fame, the film has arrived in theatres in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
