Nimrat Kaur opens up on her upcoming projects; says, “I shot four different things last year”

Actress Nimrat Kaur is all set to kickstart her 2023 on a great note as she is excited about the projects that lined-up to release this year. The actress gained recognition for her role in the critically acclaimed film The Lunchbox in 2013. She has appeared in several films such as Airlift, The Test Case," and was last seen in Dasvi alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Yami Gautam. Nimrat Kaur is all set to rule 2023 with her films. Talking about her upcoming projects, Nimrat told Hindustan Times, “I shot four different things last year and all that will be released this year. So, last year was a very busy year for me, which is quite lovely and exciting. I also did a guest appearance in a show called Foundation in Los Angeles. And then I did a movie called Happy Teachers’ Day. I have also done a show in India, and one more film which I can’t really talk about right now. But there are many things to look forward to this year for me, She further added, “Now, let’s see what 2023 brings for me. At the moment, I am looking at some very interesting materials. I am sure it is going to be really fun.” Talking about how current time is the best In film industry, she said, “Last year, all the parts that I was offered were very different from each other like chalk and cheese. You will see them once they all come out. They are not only different from each other, but they are also different from everything else I’ve ever done before. So, with the content and demand boom on social media platforms, as well all kinds of mediums, what has happened is the creation of very interesting work out. That is why it is the best time to be out and about as an artist, as a creator onscreen,” she concluded. Coming to the professional front, Nimrat will be seen in Happy Teachers’ Day. The upcoming social thriller is directed by National Award-winning director Mikhil Musale and presented by Dinesh Vijan. Taapsee Pannu gets accused of hurting religious sentiments; leader files complaint against the actress

While, in the past, many actors have come under the radar of hurting religious sentiments and has been accused on many occasions by religious and political leaders, this time around, it is Taapsee Pannu who has been accused of the same. The actress’ recent appearance at the Lakme India Fashion Week in Mumbai has triggered a controversy where a man named Eklavya Singh, who is a member of the Hind Rakshak Sangathan and son of BJP MLA Malini Gaur, has filed a complaint against the actress for her look at the prestigious fashion show. In the complaint, Singh has alleged that Taapsee Pannu wore a revealing outfit while adorning temple jewellery with Goddess Laxmi’s statue in the locket. An official was quoted in ANI reports, opening up about the complaint registered against the actress saying, “We received a complaint from Eklavya Gaur (son of BJP MLA Malini Gaur) against actor Taapsee Pannu for hurting religious sentiments and image of ‘Sanatan Dharma’ by wearing a locket having ‘Goddess Laxmi’ with revealing dress during ramp walk at Lakme Fashion Week held on March 12 in Mumbai.” The officials have asserted that investigation of the matter in currently in process. For the unversed, Taapsee Pannu walked the ramp in a beautiful red gown with embellishments. The gown featured a plunging neckline and the actress paired up the modern outfit with a statement neckpiece featuring the Goddess Lakshmi idol. Murder Mystery 2 movie review: Underwhelming flick but works due to the fun moments and performances

MURDER MYSTERY 2 is about the adventures of a detective couple. After the events of the first film, Nick Spitz (Adam Sandler) and Audrey Spitz (Jennifer Aniston) start their detective agency. Sadly, their new business doesn’t go as planned. One day, Maharajah Vikram Shivan Govindan (Adeel Akhtar) calls and informs them that he’s going to get married. He invites the Spitzes to his high-profile Indian wedding on a private island. Nick and Audrey realize that they need this break and accept the invitation. On the island, they are given a royal welcome. At the sangeet function before the marriage, things go unexpectedly. The Maharajah was supposed to make an entry on an elephant. Instead, his bodyguard Lou (Larry Myo Leong), in an injured state, makes the entry. Nick sees the Maharajah being taken away to the mainland forcibly. Nick and Audrey take charge and realize that not many knew that the Maharajah was going to enter the venue on an elephant. This means that the suspects are the ones who knew about the plan and they are Maharajah’s sister Saira (Kuhoo Verma), Maharajah’s fiancée Claudette (Mélanie Laurent), Maharajah’s ex-fiancee Countess Sekou (Jodie Turner-Smith), Maharajah’s friend and ex-soccer player Francisco (Enrique Arce) and Colonel Ulenga (John Kani). What happens next forms the rest of the film. James Vanderbilt's story is entertaining. James Vanderbilt's screenplay is peppered with some funny and outrageous moments just like the first part. But unlike MURDER MYSTERY [2019], the suspense factor is disappointing in MURDER MYSTERY 2. The dialogues are one of the strengths of the film and enhance the humour quotient in several scenes. Jeremy Garelick's direction is decent. A few scenes are well shot and thought out and will surely raise loads of laughs. The first half is quite good and sets the mood. The Indian audiences particularly would enjoy the pre-wedding scene due to the desi touch. Two scenes stand out here –the suspects sneaking into Nick and Audrey’s room one by one, and Nick and Audrey negotiating with the kidnapper on the phone. The climax has its share of thrills too. On the flipside, the revelation of the villain is unexpected but is also quite silly. The motive of the character to turn villain is not explained. The track of the Countess fails to entice as well. And the big problem with the film is that it’s too short. It has a runtime of 90 minutes, out of which the end credits take up to 11 minutes. Hence, the actual film is just 79 minutes long and viewers will feel cheated as it ends too soon. MURDER MYSTERY was also not quite lengthy. It was 8 minutes longer than the sequel but had enough meat in the script and the villain angle was justified. All these factors are missing here. Speaking of performances, Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston both are adorable and very funny. Yet again, they make a fantastic team and keep the viewers glued to the narrative. Adeel Akhtar is entertaining in a cameo. Mark Strong (Miller) leaves a huge mark. Enrique Arce is good as the creepy guy and brings the house down in a few scenes. Kuhoo Verma, Mélanie Laurent, Jodie Turner-Smith, John Kani and Larry Myo Leong are fine in the supporting roles. Zurin Villanueva (Imani) is memorable thanks to her laugh. Jillian Bell (Susan) is decent. Dany Boon (Inspector Delacroix) is dependable. Rupert Gregson-Williams's music has a cinematic feel. Bojan Bazelli's cinematography is splendid. The locales of Paris, especially, are very well shot. Perry Andelin Blake's production design is top class. Debra McGuire's costumes are glamorous. Special mention should be made of Jennifer Aniston’s lehenga in the pre-wedding sequence, designed by Manish Malhotra. The action is family-friendly. Tom Costain and Brian M Robinson's editing is sharp. On the whole, MURDER MYSTERY 2 works due to the fun moments and the performances of Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. However, the suspense element is weak and hence, the film turns out to be an average fare. But thanks to the immense hype and popularity of the first part, MURDER MYSTERY 2 will surely record huge viewership on Netflix. Siddharth Anand on Pathaan doing so well at box office: 'I don’t differentiate between the class and the mass audience'

Director Siddharth Anand has delivered two monstrous hits back to back with War and now Pathaan, which has also become the all-time highest-grossing Hindi film worldwide in the history of cinema. He feels a ‘huge sense of vindication’ with Pathaan proving that people want to come to theatres to see films that give audiences a larger-than-life experience!  Siddharth and the visionary S.S. Rajamouli are also the only two directors in the coveted Rs. 500 crore nett collection club in Hindi format. Siddharth has also blunted the narrative that Hindi films are being check-mated by South films at the box office. Siddharth says, “There is a huge sense of vindication with Pathaan doing well at the box office. What I believe that films weren’t doing well in the middle because those films were made pre-pandemic. So, there was a period where cinemas were shut and we couldn’t release our films, people weren’t coming back – so there was a prolonged break for our films.” He adds, “And those films were made pre-pandemic, there is a mindset that has changed post-pandemic. There is a viewing pattern that has changed. And those films were unfortunately victims of that change. Even when I was making War, there was a sense of parallel cinema is the new commercial cinema in 2018-2019. You had small independent films and big ideas doing much better than tentpole films till War happened. That time also I felt that – Oh my God, has the viewing pattern changed but War again proved if you make a good cinematic experience film for our masses people will come to theatres.” Siddharth has delivered the biggest hits of superstars Shah Rukh Khan & Hrithik Roshan in these high octane spy films. Filmmaker Om Raut and producer Bhushan Kumar recently visited the holy Vaishno Devi temple on the occasion of Navratri and to seek blessings for their upcoming keenly awaited film Adipurush, which stars Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in lead roles. Nawazuddin Siddiqui files Rs. 100 crore defamation case against his brother and estranged wife

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has moved the court for defaming and maligning his image and has filed a defamation suit against Shamas Nawab Siddiqui and former wife Aaliya Siddiqui seeking damages of Rs. 100 crores. As per current reports, the hearing will be held on March 30 by Justice RI Chagla. The suit has come after several allegations were thrown against the Kick actor after his wife accused the Siddiqui family of harassment and torture. In his suit, the actor has alleged that the allegations thrown towards him has affected his public image. In the suit that has been filed through advocate Sunil Kumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has alleged that he is unable to make any kind of appearances or attend social gatherings owing to the many accusations thrown towards him. He has alleged that these ‘misleading claims’ have impacted his career and hence, he has also requested the court to pass an order of injunction to restrict his brother and estranged wife Anjana Pandey alias Aaliya Siddiqui from making any more defamatory comments against him, along with a request added for taking down the already existing remarks and statements against him. Furthermore, in the same suit, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has also alleged that his brother has committed several fraudulent transactions which has resulted in major monetary loss for the actor. The actor has further alleged that due to misappropriation of funds, the actor currently owes a whopping amount of Rs. 37 crores to the government, after his brother failed to make some major payments. Furthermore, he has also accused his wife Aaliya Siddiqui of being an accomplice to his brother and misappropriating Rs. 21 crores. As per the given report, when Nawazuddin confronted his brother regarding the missing funds, the latter is claimed to have ‘instigated’ Nawaz’s estranged wife against the Siddiqui family, which led to her alleging that how her in-laws tortured and harassed her. Amitabh Bachchan cannot wait to get back to shooting

The process of healing after Amitabh Bachchan’s recent injury on the sets of Nag Ashwin’s Project K in Hyderabad, is taking longer than expected. “Even when the ribs are repaired, he won’t be allowed to shoot for a while,” says a close family friend. Mr Bachchan who will turn 81 in October, is raring to get back on his feet. “He is getting extremely restless. It’s been three weeks since he has been advised complete bedrest. He’s done with his quota of binge-watching and reading. He wants to get back to shooting ASAP, which doctors have advised him against,” the family friend reveals. It is likely that the mega-star, known to have suffered near-fatal accidents and illnesses in the past, would get back on his feet and resume shooting against doctors’ advice. Salman Khan Threat Case: Dhakad Ram Bishnoi arrested in Jodhpur by Mumbai Police

Over a week ago, Bollywood actor Salman Khan's security was beefed up by the Mumbai Police after one of his associates, Jordy Patel, received a threat via an email. His close friend Prashant Gunjalkar filed a complaint regarding the same and a case was registered at the Bandra Police Station in Mumbai against gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar and a person named Rohit Garg under IPC sections 506(2),120(b) & 34. Now, Mumbai Police has arrested a man named Dhakad Ram Bishnoi in Jodhpur in connection with the email threatening case. As per reports, Dhakad Ram Bishnoi (21) is a resident of Siyagon ki Dhani in Rohicha Kalan village in Jodhpur. He was reportedly out on bail under the Arms Act. Gaurav Yadav, Jodhpur’s DCP (West), said that a team from Mumbai’s Bandra Police had arrived to arrest him. “They asked us to assist them in detaining Bishnoi. We provided them with the support and handed Bishnoi over to the Mumbai PoliceYadav said, as reported by PTI on Sunday. "After a detailed technical investigation into the case, police got information about the accused person's whereabouts, following which a team was sent to Rajasthan and the man was apprehended," a police official said. According to a previous report in PTI, a police official said that “two Assistant Police Inspector (API)-rank officers and eight to ten constables will be part of Khan's security detail round the clock.” The official also added that fans won’t be allowed to assemble outside Salman’s Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra. It was earlier reported that Y-plus security has been provided to Salman Khan by the police. He will also travel in bullet-proof car with his personal security detail. Additional security measures have also been given to the actor. As per reports, a person named Rohit Garg allegedly issued the threat and mentioned Goldy Brar, Canadian gangster's name, saying the latter wants to meet the actor in person. Recently, Lawrence Bishnoi also allegedly said that killing Salman is his life's goal. In a recent report shared by ABP News, Bishnoi was quoted saying, “There is anger in our society for Salman Khan. He humiliated my society. A case was filed against him but he did not apologize. If he does not tender an apology, be ready to face the consequences. I will not depend on anyone else.” He went on to add that he has been harboring the feeling of hatred ever since childhood. Bholaa get ‘A’ certificate from CBFC; Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer to have a run time of 2 hours 24 minutes

The highly-anticipated film of actor Ajay Devgn, Bholaa, is all set to hit theatres. Besides headlining the project, Devgn has also donned the hat of the director for the fourth time. The ensemble star cast of the film includes Tabu, Amala Paul, Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra and Gajraj Rao in pivotal roles. It is jointly produced by Ajay Devgn FFilms, Reliance Entertainment, T-Series Films and Dream Warrior Pictures. Now, the runtime and other details of the film are out now. The Ajay Devgn starrer has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) while its runtime is 144.49 minutes: seconds with the first half being 1 hour, 18 minutes, and 56 seconds long. The forthcoming action-thriller is slated to release on March 30, 2023. For the unversed, Bholaa is an official remake of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s 2019 release Kaithi. Salman Khan brings Pooja Hegde in place of Kareena Kapoor Khan in Pavan Putra

Released in 2015, Bajrangi Bhaijaan not only became one of the biggest hits but also a film that found mass acceptance. Starring Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan and child actress Harshali Malhotra, the film about the unusual bond between a simpleton Indian and a little Pakistani girl moved hearts. Last year, fans of Salman Khan had a moment of rejoice when the sequel of Bajrangi Bhaijaan titled Pavan Putra was announced. The thought of seeing their favourite star essay the same role again was reason enough to excite them. But there was no update on the project following the announcement. But now, Bollywood Hungama has learnt that Salman has brought Pooja Hegde on board for Pavan Putra. In other words, the film will see her replacing Kareena Kapoor. Whether Pooja will play the same character that Kareena played in the first film is not known yet. Interestingly, Pooja is also the leading lady in Salman’s upcoming release Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Directed by Farhad Samji, the film is all set to release during Eid in April this year. Aditya Roy Kapur on how he prepared for a double role in Gumraah; says, “I did diction classes and made both the characters sound different”

This year witnessed several celebrity weddings from Rahul-Athiya to Sidharth- Kiara. It was a challenge, but maazaa aa gaya. Both the characters, we had to make them look different. I did diction classes and made both the characters sound different. The challenge you face when working on a thriller is to be one step ahead of audience and not vice versa.” Speaking about her role as a police officer in the movie, Mrunal said, “When you play a cop there is a responsibility. Vardi pehen na mushkil hai...there are lot of shades, lot of ups and downs. My entire family belongs to the police department. I took anecdotes and stories from them and incorporated them in my performance.” Gumraah is inspired by the Tamil film Thadam. The teaser revolves around an intense face-off between Mrunal Thakur and Aditya Roy Kapur. Helmed by debutant director Vardhan Ketkar, the film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios. It is slated to release in cinemas on April 7, 2023. Sonu Nigam’s father robbed of Rs. 72 lakh, FIR registered against ex-driver

Sonu Nigam’s father Agamkumar Nigam has filed an FIR (First Information Report) against his former driver for allegedly stealing Rs. 72 lakh from his residence in Mumbai. The singer's father lives at Windsor Grand building in Oshiwara, Andheri west. The alleged robbery took between March 19 and March 20. The FIR was registered by Sonu Nigam's sister Nikita who reached Oshiwara police station in the wee hours of Wednesday. As per the complaint, Agamkumar Nigam has a driver named Rehan for 8 months but was sacked from the job after his performance was unsatisfactory, as told by an official. As per a report in PTI, an official said that Agamkumar visited Nikita's home in the Versova area on March 19 for lunch. He was back at his residence after sometime. He called his daughter in the evening to inform her that “Rs 40 lakh was missing from a digital locker kept in a wooden cupboard.” Agamkumar Nigam visited his son's house the next day at 7 Bungalows for visa-related work. He returned home later that evening to find out Rs. 32 lakh were missing from the locker and that it wasn't damaged. As per the report, the official added, “Agamkumar and Nikita checked the CCTV footage of his society which showed his former driver Rehan going towards his flat with a bag on both days when he was away. Agamkumar suspects Rehan entered his flat with the help of a duplicate key and stole Rs. 72 lakh from the digital locker in the bedroom.” An FIR has been filed under the Indian Penal Code sections 380, 454 and 457 for robbery and trespassing. Akshay Kumar’s remake of Soorarai Pottru to release on September 1

The release date of the Akshay Kumar, Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal starrer Hindi remake of the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru is out. The Sudha Kongara directorial venture will be releasing in theatres on September 1 this year. Produced by Abundantia Entertainment and 2D Entertainment, the yet untitled film is tentatively called Production No. 27. Released in November 2020, Soorarai Pottru starred Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, Paresh Rawal and Mohan Babu, among others. The film was also helmed by Sudha Kongara. The Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru went on floors in April 2022 in an auspicious way through the breaking of a coconut by Radhika. The video of the same was shared by Akshay back then. He had also asked his fans to suggest a title for the film. “With the auspicious coconut-breaking and a small prayer in our heart, we begin the filming of our yet untitled film which is about dreams and the power of it ???? Sara Ali Khan speaks on Janhvi Kapoor’s ‘I don’t get respect’ remark; says, “Maybe as an actor one still has to prove themselves”

Ever since Sara Ali Khan and Jahnvi Kapoor appeared on the popular chat show Koffee with Karan together, their friendship has been the subject of admiration among fans. In fact, other than the chat show, the duo has often spoken about each other in interviews. However, this time, it seems there is a difference of opinion among the star kids over Kapoor’s “I don’t get respect” remark. For the unversed, Janhvi Kapoor had earlier said, “I believe I have more to offer and I want to prove to myself that I can take up new challenges and emerge from it. I think from the very beginning I got respect.” Explaining her take further, the 27-year-old actress added, “Maybe what Janhvi could have meant, maybe as an actor one still has to prove themselves. But even then, whether it’s Kedarnath or Atrangi [Re], I read the reviews I was given. Akshay Kumar starrer Hera Pheri 4 lands in legal trouble; T-Series issues public notice claiming audio and visual rights of songs

Bollywood's comedy trio is back as Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal kicked off the shoot for the third instalment of Hera Pheri in February 2023. However, the film has already landed in legal trouble. Music giant and production house T-Series has reportedly issued a public notice to the makers of Hera Pheri 4, claiming the visual and audio rights to every song in the franchise. The notice reads that the production house is the “sole and exclusive right holder of all copyright of all Music and Audio Visual Song Rights” of the franchise in all mediums. According to the Times Of India, an excerpt in the notice read, “Notice is hereby given to the public in general and film trade in particular that Super Cassettes Industries Private Limited (T-Series) is the sole and absolute owner of copyright in relation to the music and audio visual songs i.e. Master Sound Recordings, Literary Works and Musical Works embodied in the Sound Recordings, and Audio Visuals of all the songs (hereinafter referred to as “Music and Audio Visual Song Rights”) for entire world in perpetuity for exploitation on all modes, media and formats (whether existing now and / or arising in future)in the Hindi language film currently “Untitled”, to be released as a franchise of the «HERA PHERI’ films (hereinafter referred to as the “Franchise Film”); The Music and Audio Visual Song Rights were assigned by Base Industries Group to T-Series.” Hera Pheri (2000), which was directed by Priyadarshan, was a story of a poor landlord and his two tenants, and how they become rich after they receive a wrong number. The sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006), directed by Neeraj Vora, took the story forward and how the trio went from riches to rags in their quest for greed and wealth. Hera Pheri 4 is expected to take the story forward after the events of the second part. This installment is being helmed by Farhad Samji. Kareena Kapoor Khan opens up about ‘working-mom guilt’; says, “We always try to not have that, but I think it'll always creep in”

Kareena Kapoor Khan is one such actress, who has not only changed the way the world perceive married actresses but she has also proved that motherhood doesn’t impact the success of a female actor either. Mumbai police take action against gangsters Bishnoi and others for threatening Salman Khan

Not too long ago, there were reports of how Lawrence Bishnoi threatened Salman Khan and told the superstar to apologize to his community after the actor was accused of killing a blackbuck during the shoot of Hum Saath Saath Hain. Now, adding further, a staff member of the Sultan actor’s team has found a threatening letter asking Salman to have a talk with Canadian gangster Goldie Brar, in an email that was sent by a certain Rohit Garg. Salman Khan’s manager Prashant Gunjalkar came across the email last week, which Khan had received from a certain Rohit Garg who asked the superstar to have an interaction with Goldie Garg in order to resolve his issues with Lawrence Bishnoi. Furthermore, the email was reportedly said to have been written under the presumption that Salman Khan witnessed the interview that was given by Bishnoi recently. It had the gangster threatening to kill the superstar, if he didn’t apologize for allegedly killing a blackbuck. For the unversed, the blackbuck killing case that can be traced to the late 90s, witnessed serious allegations against the superstar for allegedly hunting a rare species, which is also considered to be sacred among the Bishnoi community. Followed by the threatening email, on Saturday night, Gunjalkar contacted the Mumbai police and registered a complaint against the three names. As per a statement reportedly given by an official in Bandra police station, the authorities have taken serious cognisance of this threat, followed by which they increased the security for the superstar. And besides that, they also registered a complaint under sections 12(B) and 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code, which includes charges of criminal conspiracy and intimidation. Lawrence Bishnoi is currently in Tihar jail, facing charges of murdering popular Punjabi musician Sidhu Moosewala. Kangana Ranaut reveals she wanted to launch restaurant last year; says couldn't do it due to “financial setbacks”

Pahlaj Nihalani started the year 2023 by celebrating his 73rd birthday, on January 10. In February, he held an inauguration event for his revamped South Mumbai theatre, Nishat Cinema. Bollywood Hungama exclusively spoke to him a few days ago about what he’s up to nowadays and a lot more. How do you look at the box office at present? If I go back to 1993 or 1994, it was a time when a big film, of the scale of Pathaan, will be released in maximum of 150 cinemas across the country. Yet, the big films at that point did the same kind of business that Pathaan or any other big film does in today’s times, despite the increase in prints and ticket rates in today's times. Those were the days when films would boast of 7 crore footfalls. I don’t think Pathaan will even cross 5 crore footfalls. Its run is about to get exhausted. Also, the ticket prices of Rs. 800 or 1000 can discourage some people to not venture out to cinema halls. 3 Idiots (2009) became a blockbuster with 4 crore footfalls. The cost of tickets has doubled since then but the box office hasn’t seen the same growth. Akshay Kumar used to give consistent hits but his films barely got footfalls of more than 1.25 crores. A film needs 1.50 or 1.75 crore footfalls to be declared a blockbuster. And our country's population is 140 crores. That’s why satellite channels are giving so much money to buy TV rights as they help the film reach out to every household. It’s also amusing that though many of the star-studded films are disasters, OTT platforms are claiming that millions of people have watched them on their platform. I wonder if they are fooling the people or if are they fooling themselves. You were the chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). What do you have to say about its functioning, under Prasoon Joshi? Recently, you had spoken against reports that the orange swimsuit shot in the song ‘Besharam Rang’ from Pathaan might have been removed by the CBFC… A lot of controversies were made over the orange swimsuit. But the Censors have not cut those shots. And I had said before the release that you cannot remove a shot based on the colour. The issue died down after the release of the film. It was completely political. A chairperson’s tenure in CBFC is usually 3 years. There have been murmurs as to why Prasoon Joshi continues to be the chairperson since August 2017... He’s the chairperson till further orders. He’s there as a chairperson but he’s also not there! What do you mean? When we get the appointment letter, it states that the tenure will start from a certain date and end on a certain date or until further orders. Since there have been no further orders, he continues to be the chairperson. However, he’s not attending office. I doubt if he has visited the office in the last 2-3 years. Gaye honge office toh sirf 2-4 baar. It was said that you used to attend office everyday… Mere paas kaam nahin tha na! Inke paas bahut kaam hai (laughs). Do you feel sad that people remember you only for your stint as the CBFC chairperson and the controversies that erupted at that time and not your body of work? I feel that jo accha kaam karta hai, uski agar burai na ho, toh fir accha kaam hua hi nahin! Nowadays, you don’t hear anything critical about CBFC. That’s because of fear. Abhi sab cheez ka darr hai sabko. No one gives any reaction or quote to the media. I used to do that as I felt it was important to clarify. People didn’t like it. In my time, many wanted to become chairperson. They were eying my chair. Even right now, bahut log mehnat kar rahe hai. Par nahin ban paa rahe hai. I put together a system in place at CBFC. The new members are following it. They haven’t made any changes though times now are different. We have OTT platforms now. They are not under any rules. This needs to be addressed.
