10 Years of Kai Po Che EXCLUSIVE: Amrita Puri gets nostalgic recalling the Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao, Amit Sadh starrer

Bollywood is known for its love stories. But we have also had a lot of films based on love between friends, right from Sholay to Dil Chahta Hai to 3 Idiots. In 2013, a film on the same relation arrived in the form of Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che. Apart from being successful, it also managed to stand apart from other mainstream films on friendship purely because of its rooted storyline and much more realistic approach.   Based on author Chetan Bhagat’s book ‘The 3 Mistakes Of My Life’, Kai Po Che saw Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh play three friends growing up in Ahmedabad during the early 2000s and their coming of age through some serious events that took place back then. Amrita Puri led the female cast of the film as she played Sushant’s sister and Rajkummar’s love interest. As Kai Po Che completes 10 years today, the actress looked back at the making of the film in an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama. Amrita said that she is proud to be a part of a film that is iconic, still talked about and loved. The actress was relatively new 10 years ago. Her casting happened unplanned as she met Abhishek Kapoor at a party and got talking. “He asked ‘What do you do?’ He didn’t know that I am an actor. Then I told him that I am an actor. So, he thought of me for the role of Vidya Bhatt and asked me to audition,” she said. She auditioned with Mukesh Chhabra and a month or two later she was told that she has bagged the role. Although Kai Po Che has quite a few dramatic twists, it stayed away from melodrama. This was also seen in the subtle performances of the cast. Amrita told us that they achieved this through workshops with Mukesh Chhabra. “We did character development and script reading with Gattu (Kapoor) and the rest of the cast,” she said. “He said that he wanted my character to be cute and sweet but at the same time flirtatious. He said those scenes need to be like kachcha kairi (raw mango). All this really helps you get into your character.” One of the biggest challenges for Amrita was her diction since her character was from Ahmedabad. “I had to work a lot on my diction with a diction coach because I am from Bombay; I am urban and so is my accent. There was some Gujarati (in the dialogues). The pol in Ahmedabad is very old school. It should look like I am from there,” she said. The other challenge was the scorching heat of the summer. In fact, she revealed that Sushant once got a heat stroke and later on, almost everyone faced issues related to the heat. As Amrita played Rajkummar’s love interest, the two had to shoot together on quite a few occasions. “At that time, he (Rajkummar) wasn’t a known name as he was relatively new,” she said. “He was very honest, sincere and hardworking. But he also wants his co-star to shine as an actor. We would work on the scene and dialogues.” She also had a good time shooting with Sushant and Amit. “All of us were quite new back then and very excited. When you are new, you are also naïve and fresh and there is that idealism as well; you haven’t seen the world yet. We got along very well. Each of us wanted to prove ourselves,” she said. Kai Po Che was the Bollywood debut for Sushant Singh Rajput. But he was already popular because of his hit TV show Pavitra Rishta. Apart from playing Amrita’s brother on screen, SSR also played his scooty coach off screen. “I didn’t know how to ride a scooty; I still don’t know much,” said Amrita. “But I had to ride it because girls in Gujarat and Ahmedabad do that. So, Sushant became my scooty coach. We used to ride around Aaram Nagar (in Mumbai). Everyone used to recognize him and run after the scooty. At times, I couldn’t ride properly as they used to surround us to see him. So, we had a lot of fun memories like that.” Looking back at Kai Po Che after a decade Amrita feels emotional. “It’s very nostalgic,” she said. “At that time, we didn’t even know that it will be such a big hit. You don’t realize when you are shooting and that that time won’t come back. Now Sushant is no more, so it’s very sentimental and nostalgic. I always get emotional when I am talking about it. When I think of Kai Po Che, I feel a lot of love for everybody who was involved. All the actors and crew. It was like a family unit.” Talking about her forthcoming projects, Amrita will be seen in the web film Neeyat. Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar: Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor flaunt their sizzling chemistry in grand wedding song ‘Show Me The Thumka’, watch video

After the dropping chartbusters like 'Tere Pyaar Mein', and 'Pyaar Hota Kayi Baar Hai', the makers of the much-anticipated film, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, are here with another upbeat song, 'Show Me The Thumka' starring Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. The duo has been painting the towns red with their separate promotional tours lately, making the wait to watch them on screen harder. The song starts with a grand family celebration at an ancestral house amid a lush green farm. 'Show Me The Thumka' begins with Ranbir and Sharddha entering the giant corridor of the house from two opposite sides with many background dancers. Shraddha looks sizzling hot and gorgeous in a bright yellow saree, while Ranbir looks dashing in his ethnic attire. The two start giving each other tough competition through their groovy dance steps, while later they start tapping feet with each other. The two love birds groove with other family members, including Dimple Kapadia. Taking to social media, the makers dropped the song 'Show me the Thumka' and wrote,"Thoda Latka Jhatka, Full-On Nain Matakka." Sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Shashwat Singh, the latest song is composed and written by Pritam and Amitabh Bhattacharya. Choreographer Ganesh Acharya once again, very beautifully added his magic in the hook steps with his unique, cheerful, sizzling choreography, bringing back our desi old world charm and making it the perfect shaadi dance number for audiences of all age groups! Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is directed by Luv Ranjan, produced by Luv Films’ Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, and presented by T- Series’ Gulshan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar. CONFIRMED: Aditya Chopra won’t merge his Dhoom Universe with the Spy Universe

Post the success of the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan, Yash Raj Films has become the talk of the town. In fact, Aditya Chopra who usually stays away from the limelight has been thrust into the spotlight with the success of the Siddharth Anand directorial and the recent Netflix docu-series The Romantics. While the audience continues to patronize Pathaan, reports have surfaced claiming that Aditya Chopra is considering merging two major franchises. As per reports, rumours floating around say that Aditya Chopra will be merging his Dhoom Universe with the Spy Universe. We can assure you that this information is absolutely incorrect. “Dhoom franchise and YRF Spy Universe are now two of the biggest IP’s in the history of Indian cinema and Aditya Chopra, who owns both these IP’s, will never merge the two because he would want to grow them separately. YRF Spy Universe is a world of super spies and Dhoom is the world of anti-establishment anti-heroes. They can’t come together. He will protect the sanctity of these two universes and grow them separately to make them even bigger IP’s in the years to come,” informs a very senior trade source. Continuing to reason further why both franchises cannot be merged the source adds, “So, no you won’t see any characters from these Universes to overlap in either franchise. Story-wise also it does not make sense at all. So, all this talk is completely baseless that Jai Dixit will be seen in the YRF Spy Universe. No one from Dhoom will be seen in the YRF Spy Universe and vice versa”.

Beard is definitely in trend. Gone are the days when men with clean-shaven look were considered heroes and men with beards were looked at as villains. From stubbles to well-designed beards, facial hair has have had its own evolution in mainstream cinema. Let’s have a look at some prominent movies and men who bought about this beard evolution in Indian Cinema. Dil Chahta Hai (2001): This movie was a trendsetter for so many reasons, but this time around, we will focus on Aamir Khan’s iconic soul patch or goatee and the gelled up spikes. But when Aamir Khan transformed his body with 6 packs, sported that induction buzz cut with a razored partition and light stubble beard, he took the whole game a notch up. K.G.F Chapter 1 (2018): Yash’s look with a full mane of hair and fully grown beard, tailored perfectly for his role as Rocky in the epic K.G.F is to this date a trend picked by most men. Call him Greek God or Grooming God, Hrithik Roshan is one actor who never disappoints with his looks. Zeenat Aman reveals her Instagram debut does not indicate her comeback to silver screen

Veteran actor Zeenat Aman has been active on Instagram and has shared insights into her personal as well as her professional life since the time she made debut on the social media platform. The actress recently opened up on the rumours saying her Instagram debut indicates her comeback to the silver screen. On Sunday, the actress took to Instagram and shared a picture of her sitting on a sofa in a simple outfit. Sharing the picture, she captioned, “There’s been some speculation that my presence here is the precursor to my return to the silver screen. I am a notoriously private person, and I suppose this sudden sharing has set tongues wagging. The truth is that I have been in the public eye since I was 16-years-old, and have experienced the perils of being misquoted, taken out of context, censored, and gossiped about. Now as a septuagenarian, I am enjoying the opportunity to reflect on my life and career in my own words. That too without any pressures from managers or studios or brands. I am not, per se, planning a return to the silver screen, but nor am I closing that door. Creativity does not retire, and I would love to sink my teeth into a nuanced and impactful character. I’m of course quite aware that such roles for older women are few and far apart. Some days ago, I read about the Annenberg Foundation study that analysed 1,000 Hollywood films released between 2007 and 2017. They found that less than 25% of the women on screen were over the age of 40. The numbers for the Indian film industry are unlikely to be much better.
