Back in January 2022, Netflix India announced its next film, Chakda Xpress. The film, starring Anushka Sharma, is being produced by Clean Slate Filmz and directed by Prosit Roy, is inspired by the story of cricketer Jhulan Goswami. The actress is currently prepping for the same and training hard. In recent conversation, she talked about it for delayed.
In a recent conversation with Harper's Bazaar India, Anushka Sharma said that the film got delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic and her pregnancy. “I was a part of the inception of Chakda Xpress. I was supposed to have worked on it earlier but the film got postponed because of the pandemic and then I got pregnant. When I finally began working on it, I was really nervous because I had just had a baby so I wasn’t as strong as before. And I hadn’t trained for 18 months, so I wasn’t in the best physical condition- earlier, I would have really pushed myself to do different exercises in the gym. But even though I wasn’t sure whether to take the project on or not, an inner voice kept telling me to do it. And that’s the kind of work I want to be a part of. I’ll always be open to doing projects that are interesting and content-forward," Anushka said.
Chakda Xpress will be tracing the glorious journey of one of the fastest female pacers in the history of world cricket, Jhulan Goswami, as she moves up the ladder despite the countless hindrances posed by misogynistic politics to fulfil her only dream: to play cricket.
Chakda Xpress marks Anushka Sharma's first film since 2018's Zero starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.
