Dharma Productions is ready for the big family entertainer of the year with the upcoming film, JugJugg Jeeyo. Starring Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Neetu Kapoor, Prajakta Koli, and Maniesh Paul, the film will be released on June 24, 2022. Directed by Raj Mehta of Good Newwz fame, the makers launched the trailer on May 22 amid much fanfare. At the press conference, Karan Johar said that the film is labour of love and was shot during the pandemic.
Karan Johar said, “Jugjugg Jeeyo is one of those rare films that was shot entirely during the pandemic. The cast and crew not only shot in really trying times but tested positive for COVID-19, recovered from it and are here to tell the tale.”
He added, “Raj (Mehta, director) has worked so hard and fought so many obstacles as I mentioned earlier, and the proof lies in the pudding. I believe no amount of labour is ever lost.”
Agreeing with Johar, Raj Mehta said, “I am nervous. Times were challenging when we shot the film. I hope all of it is worth it.”
Varun Dhawan shared, “I am so happy because I have a film releasing in the theatres after almost two-and-a-half years. Jugjugg Jeeyo has been a special journey and also a very difficult one to make during the pandemic. Bohut mushkilon ka saamna karna pada humein and the credit goes to only one man – Raj ji. It is very difficult to make a film with so many actors and pull it off during a pandemic. I have so much love for each and every member of this cast, especially Anil Kapoor. Also, Kiara prayed so much when I was infected with COVID-19 because she was worried ki usko na ho jaaye (smiles). And Neetu ma’am is one of the best actors I have worked with to date. She will surprise everyone in this film. Maniesh, meanwhile, is on fire.”
Jugjugg Jeeyo will release on June 24, 2022.
